Default Fuel pump

Do you need an uprated fuel pump to achieve 320bhp The reason i ask is that most tuners include this in their tuning packages, but Powerstation dont. Even the PPP package has an uprated fuel pump. Would this have any adverse effects on the engine?, any thoughts on this is most welcome.

i would change your fuel pump, you can get them for £80, any loss of fuel pressure when running high boost and you could melt a piston .

I personally would change the fuel pump if your havinng it remaped as the fuel is on even more demand, with the standard fuel pump your injectors are having to stay open for longer when its mapped, but if you replace the pump then you have a constant high pressure supply of fuel so your injectors are open for a shorter time therefore not under as much stress.

If iam wrong someone will let you know

For 80quid to be safe it's a no brainer really. Some mappers wont touch car with standard OE fuel pump.

If it's a classic, then you should also fit a new pressure regulator, as the uprated pumps can overcome the OE regulator.

I'm very suprised Powerstation don't change it. You will probably find if you ask they recommend it, or it's an add on.

powerstation maintain that the pump doesn't need changing up to 350bhp+

I ended up putting mine in myself

UK cars need an uprated fuel pump, JDM cars have one as standard.

Just posted on the other thread, the one about the fuel pump.

Mine has been remapped to 285, do you think it needs a bigger pump & if so what model.

2004 2 litre engine.

Thanks.
