Removing newage wing mirrors
Thinking of getting some Carbon Fibre wing mirrors as a sort of Xmas present to myself.
How do the OEM ones come off ? Can't see any obvious fixings anywhere.
Also with the carbon ones i'm looking at being non electric, how would i disengage the supply and leave it in place whilst fitting the carbon ones ?
Cheers guys

Pull off the plastic trim from the inside thats on the back of the mirrors - don't break the clips. 3 screws hold on the mirrors.
However, you do need to remove the full door trim to get to the multi plug, that controls the electric bits.
Fit the new mirrors and you won't have anything to plug in anyway.
Put the trims back.

Had a quick look at the door cards when i got in the car this morning and that looks like more of a mission than removing the mirrors!! Any hints anyone on the best way of taking them of ???

You don't need to remove the cards, just the interior triangle up at the mirror, 3 or 4 screws to loosen wiggle the mirror off and then disconnect the wiring.
If you are needing to put on a new base plate you might need to shave or cut off the small lug and cut down the tubs that the screws go back into.
Thats what I had to do when I fitted my aftermarket carbon mirrors.

My New Age is a JDM model with the folding mirrors, etc, and there is no way to disconnect the plug for the mirrrors without removing the door cards. The plug is a good 5" down the door.
It may be that the UK models have that plug in a different place.
The door cards have a couple of screws - behind the opening lever and down inside the door pull. The rest are plugs and clips from the bottom up.
I fitted a pair of carbon mirrors to mine a couple of years back (back in a box now - the view out them was terrible) They're actually genuine Prodrive ones and were fitted to Solbergs car, he used for the Australian Rally a few years back. They weigh about 50 grammes - that's for both.
