Question Battery problems

I'm on my third battery now in my 04MY STi.

Dealer tells me that if I don't use the car every week AND when I use it I must have my side lights on to boost the battery, it will go flat on about day 8. Really good when you park at an airport car park for 14 days. As it's my second car and I only use it at weekends this is a real hassle. Went away for Xmas and came home to a 3am alarm call last night when the car alarm was set off by the battery being low.

Apparently this is for 03 MY onwards?

Subaru Assistance come out and get me going, check that charge is holding, which it is and laugh.

Am I being fed a line here by the dealer or do others have such hassle? Did not have this problem on my 02 MY WRX.

Have others heard about this ridiculous advance in technology on what is otherwise the best car on the road?

Yes theyre probably right,
You can get a battery optimizer unit which will float charge your battery while not being used.

Where can you get one of those from?

Sounds a really good idea.

Cheers.
