Default Loud Backbox

Any suggestions for fitting a Loud backbox to an 02 wrx to bring out that burble?

I have a budget of about £250 fitted, any suggestions appreciated

I have the Vortex Afterburner on an 02 WRX. It is very loud - a real head turner. Only get it if you want to be noticed. I have to admit that I grew tired of it. I now have an STI and am looking for something that accentuates the burble rather than screams look at me!

Vortex if you want teenage lads to give you the thumbs up!

Just checked out scoobyworld (thanks for the link btw) and had a listen to both the Ninja and the afterburner.
Both sound great, am defo going to get one of these fitted as it is around my budget, but my problem is now I cant decide which is better???!

My mate has an Afterburner Vortex bb for sale. Mint condition and rare because it is straight exit rather than angled jap style.
Also fitting is really easy so whatever you get you could save some money with a bit of DIY

The ninja isn't loud imo (and others), even fitted with the full sytem. I finally got round to swapping to the vortex and now content.

I had the ninja, but with with the afterburner full decat. Was very loud. Only heard scooby louder. Could not hear anyone in the car. But you know what, i miss it. On WOT was just awesome.

If you're keeping all your cats, then get the loudest backbox:

Afterburner Vortex,
Blitz
Firestorm
Team Ice

If decatting, i would get something not as loud as above, because it would probably be unbearable.

I now have a setup considered one of the quietest, Revolution. I can hear my wife coming from 1/4 mile away and house rumbles when she drives past. But i prefer the old setup!!

Think I'm going to go for the Vortex then, cos it seems like what I'm after- a loud sound without decatting

Does anyone know any garages in London area where I can get it fitted?

exactly what i had on my old wrx before i sold it. ninja backbox, afterburener un resonated centre section and decat downpipe. i never realised how loud it was untill someone else drove the car after i wasnt in it any longer. my godd did it give me wood. i will rid myself of this horrible enviromentally friendly standard system on my 99 turbo. cant even hear it

You want to consider buying a new gasket before you attempt to fit the new backbox. If the standard one's been on there for a while, or you damage it taking off the existing back box, you'll need a new one to put on.

They're about £5 (IIRC) from Subaru.

firestorm or RCM Ice - I have never heard the Ice but it is meant to be deafening.

my firestorm sounds like nothing else, and like the previous reply, think it and the vortex are louder than blitz, and much cheaper.

Take note guys as certainly when buying the vortex from scoobyworld they don't include a gasket. You need to get 1 yourself.

I have the full 3.5 inch APS system and it's LOUD and resonates a lot loved it at first but had to upgrade the stereo after a while in an attempt to shut the exhaust up, i dont know what it would be like with just the back box though !
I only have one silencer just the one in the backbox !

when i bought a vortex downpipe/centre section from scoobyworld, i got the gasket that belongs between backbox and centre section, but not the circular gasket that belongs between the downpipe and centre section. was about £32 from graham goode, not cheap, but if you spend 100's on a decent exhaust, its worth the extra pennies to have a brand new gasket, rather than and old singed one rotting away.
