Engines compatibility.

Engines compatibility.
Hello everybody. I guess I'll be in need of getting engine for swap. Now I'm confuesd. My car is '97 Forester N/A 2.0. Simply EJ20, I guess. There were some others 2.0 engines - like legacys, imprezas N/A and of course another foresters (98->). Any of them will be a straight swap for me? My engine has a plastic inlet. I know for sure now I wouldn't be able to find the same engine for me. How about shortblocks? And if any of them suits should I replace also some electronic devices - AMM or ECU for example? And one more question - how hard would it be to swap 2.5 (forester or legacy 2.5) into 2.0? Additional ECU and AMM for sure. Electric harness? I just don't know if it is worth of it. Thanks for every hint.

Ressurecting this topic. Crankshaft makes noise. That's the fact. Don't want to rebuild engine 'cause it's naturally aspirated. Bought for pennies '99 impreza's engine with 80.000 on the clock and 3 month warranty. Now I need help 'cause my mechanic will be free in 1-2 weeks. Should I expect any problems with compatibility? Should I buy any parts just in case? ECU, AMM? Anything else? I can't find single thing about subaru injection system on the internet. Would you help me?
