Default Damaged brake pad advice

I bought some Pagid brake pads online and they were delivered today. However one of the pads has a chunk out of the top edge, about 2.5cm wide, 1cm high and 3mm deep. I assume they were damaged sometime in transit as the piece is loose in the box.

Will this affect the performance of the pad due to the reduced surface contact with the disc, (and therefore should I be asking for a replacement). Or is it common, doesn't affect the performance of the pad, and therefore not be something to worry about?

Having spent £130 on the pads, I feel I should probably ask for a replacement.........

i would say braking would be affected due to reduced braking area as pad will run hotter plus they would wear out quicker than a set without a chunk missing
for over £100 for pads i would not even consider fitting just get a replacement set

Ditto, the pad may crack up when it expands with the heat.

Yeah, I'll give them a shout tomorrow. I haven't spoken to them and I'm sure they replace them without question, I guess I just wanted to know that it wasn't 'normal'....
