whats the top 3 turbos you can upgrade a 04 wrx (uk) with?? Also what is the current turbo thats on it? cheers

 

i swopped mine for a VF35 turbo but most of the vf range are good.

post in technical and you may get more answers.

I think its a td04 on your car at the mo but i may stand corrected as I am no expert

 

I'm no expert either, but most people go for either the TD04 Hybrid, the VF35 or the TD05 16G.

The TD04 Hybrid is good for about 320 bhp with supporting mods, the other two nearer 340bhp. However, the TD04 has the least lag and the lowest spool-up.

You wouldn't go wrong with any of these turbos.

One thing I would say is that you'll spend a fair bit on other mods if you replace the turbo (Intercooler, fuel pump, injectors etc). A cheaper way to do things is to simply fit a decat exhaust (or partial at least) and to remap the ECU. With that you'll get 270-280bhp, which is still feels a dramatic improvement on the std car.

Finally, consider replacement springs eg Prodrive, or Whitleine ARB and droplinks.

cheers vf34 it is then! i already have a full decat and 3 in downpipe with system but it's going to bob rawl in about 4-5 months so i ve got to get everything done before he gets his hands on it, will the sti intercooler bolt straight on?

 

Might be better for your engine if you hold off fitting new turbo until just before Bob remaps it. VF34 should be good.
