Heat Shield On Your Turbo
Quick question. Got my Sports Downpipe & stuff fitted today. Very pleased.
THe Heat Sheild on the Turbo was not refitted ( I was asked wha I wanted & said what do others do & they said leave it off).
Does it make a difference? My mate said tonight, it is to stop you burning your fingers in the Enine Bay??
Thanks.
KInd regards

I fitted a full decat system to my 03 Sti, had to modify the heat shield by cutting away to make it fit and lagged (£10 for 5m ebay) the down pipe. Its all to keep your underbonnet temperature low as turbo sits almost under the intercooler.
They may have just wanted the easy option.

When my sportscat was fitted the heatshield was modified and refitted.
It's there for a reason.

My car didn't have one fitted when I bought it and I've had no apparent problems as a result.

Yeah and as I have a FMIC on there I doubt one would fit on even if I wanted to put one on.

Regardless of FMIC or TMIC it is best to refit the heat shield. Modify it if necessary to get it to fit. Alternatively, lag your turbo but do it properly.

It's getting shaped and refitted Monday.
THanks all.
Next thing is Headers when I've saved up a bit.
Lot More grunt with the Decat Sports Up/Downpipe.
