Default Green Panel Filter

Just fitted one and the first difference i have noticed is a slight whoosh noise in the cabin when changing gear under hard acceleration.
Nothing of the magnitude of a chav valve.
I am assuming this is normal
Nik.

I'm looking into replacing the standard panel filter in my 03 WRX, is the Green filter the best option? Does it contaminate the Mass Airflow Meter?

Nope, it's one of the better ones. Don't soak it in oil though !

Also, the Newages have a different MAF housing so are less vulnerable to contamination than the old looking Scoobs.

Thought you were taking the P*ss
My son thinks woosh is cool.
Just hoping he doesn't cotton on to after market dump valves which in my eyes are a big no no.

Turn fan & radio off and nail it through the gears and every change you should hear a whoosh sound.
As said earlier its not as in your face as a chav valve but still noticable in the cabin.

More to the point......what causes it?

Nik.

Only woosh noise I'm aware of is the turbo spool-up. can be heard just as the turbo is kicking it around 2.5k. Other than that it must be induction noise as the air is sucked through the intake system. Are you sure you sealed the airbox properly after replacing the filter.
