Default How do you fit a heated front screen to a classic Impreza?

Hello there, I have a 96 pre-facelift Impreza minus a heated front screen. Itis starting to annoy me that the front windscreen keeps steaming up.

Can a heated front screen be easily fitted? I've done it to Escorts and the like but never an Impreza?

Can anyone advise, and point out difficult parts? Tips and tricks?

The front screens are bonded so unless you know what your doing I'd get it done by the pro's. Just a thought .... You could try and get it done through your insurance if the current screen is "damaged" and only pay the excess to have it fitted.

An even cheaper option is to turn your aircon on (if you have it of course) and that will dry up your screen very quickly ... or you may have a water leak into the car that needs sorting.

I'm no expert on classic screens, but do they actually have heated ones in any model classic?

I would first source the problem. It should'nt steam up all the time. It would be my suggestion that there is a water leak somewhere, it may be very small.

Good call. It might be stuck in the on position.

Thanks for the above guys, I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick.

Its not dripping with water or anywhere near. It simply is condensation that forms within the first few seconds of me getting in on a cold night. It does clear pretty quickly once the heater and fans are turned on, but not as quickly as I would like. Plus of late a heated front screen would have come in handy with all the frost.

I don't need to fit a heated screen, but if its a easy swop, then I think it would be a bonus.

I can do the swop of the screen no problem, its the wiring and any other issues that I'm unaware of that I'm concerned about.

I can't do the insurance thing, becasue as it stands I haven't got a heated front screen and they will only swop like for like, and even if I could twist they arm they'd still have to contend with fitting the wiring and anything else which is exactly where I am at the moment.
