Default Boost Guage alway's negative??

Can anyone help out....

My boost gauge which was fitted today look like this....

It always is on the low side of zero....

On full boost I get it to Zero (0)...

But I cannot get it to start at zero to shot +ve boost...

I've checked all the connections a few time and all is correct....

No problem with car, pulls good as always!!

Is the guage the problem??

Can anyone help out....

Thanks

Scott

on tick over it should show something like -0.7, pressing the accelerator should make it go up to zero and above but not much. try it on the road and if at WOT you dont get positive boost then its probably plumbed in to the wrong pipe... or your leaking boost from someware quite majorly! where have you taken the boost feed from?

if everything is wired and plumbed correctly and boosts well then sounds like a dodgy gauge

It sounds like it is either plumbed into the wrong place or your car is not boosting properly.

It should read negative pressure when you are off the accelerator or just keeping a constant speed at low revs and obviously a higher pressure when you are accelerating or above 3-4k revs.

The gauge should be plumbed into the inlet manifold.

if driving car off throttle the boost gauge should read -0.5-6 then on throttle should sit at zero till the turbo comes in, then if running a standard car should boost to about 0.9bar

When my engines not running my needle sits at zero when started goes minus when floored goes positive looks to me it may be your gauge
or is it mine

no that sounds right kips yours sound fine, should be zero with ignition turned off, then -0.4-0.6 or thereabouts and positive when boost comes in

Plumbing looks fine to me...The pipe connected to the dump valve appears to be teed into and he is picking manifold pressure from there...

Its the right mounting point but the readings sound like they are from before the turbo intake (ie NA readings).
Check the hose to the recirc valve is plumbed into the inlet manifold and not somewhere else.

Cheers Nick....

Funny thing is that it moves like it should, only on the wrong side of zero!!

I think it's the gauge..??

Its giving figures like a non-turboed car.
At idle there is a large vacumm (throttle shut) and gauge will show about -0.7 bar.
With more revs and a throttle wide open you should get approaching to atmospheric pressure (zero on gauge) but it'll never go above zero.
If you are sure that your turbo is really boosting then its either a faulty guage or the recirc valve isn't plumbed in to the inlet manifold.

I'd tap into the inlet manifold rather than the DV? You will get manifold pressure then which is more accurate for the pressure the engine is being fed.

If it's plumbed into the where the picture shows, then that's fine; the vac hose to the dump valve is subject to manifold pressure. However, I am guessing that is not a picture of your car, and just a picture you used to guide you. Any chance you can post a picture of your actual install?

if you look on the inlet manifold, you will see the pressure outlet nipples, 2 are slightly left and right of centre, tee into one of these and you should see manifold pressure.

The vac line to the dump valve is already connected directly to the inlet manifold.

Thats what I thought....

Gauge must be knackered or the sender ans there is not much more that can go wrong with them....

Cheers
