Was out in the car last night running fine. Jumped in the car this morning to go to work and it just turns over wont fire. I cant hear the fuel pump priming but because i tried to start it i guess i wont hear it again until after its been running. Rac came out they said i am getting a couple of volts to pump. Thing is this pump is only a couple of months old so shouldnt be that. Has anyone got any ideas for me to try? Bloody cars not worth the chew

Does it have an alarm fitted?

Could well be that being faulty which is not powering the fuel pump.

I'm still dealing with this one on mine. ECU sends a signal but the pump doesnt always receive the prime signal. Somewhere between the ECU (eg fuel pump controller and the relay). Tested the fuel pump output voltage, 10 volts continuous, 12 volts initial prime for 2 seconds when it works. But when it doesn't prime, it only sends the 10v signal, and misses the 12v regardless of ecu signal. Car starves of fuel and can't start - very frustrating. Mines got an immobiliser & is an my04, still under warranty will see the dealer on Monday.

My car had a problem with the Sigma M30 factory fit alarm which has a built in immobiliser. I hard wired the pump for a few days to the ignition till i could get it sorted.
As your alarm has been removed - the next place to look is at the connector under the rear seat. Pull it apart and check there is nothing burnt in there. Very common apparently

Hi there just gad this problem with my 99 UK turbo turned out to be my alarm wasnt telling the pump to run, by passed this problem today, but you say it isnt the alarm. Have you checked the fuel pump relay?
If you lay with your head near the accelerator and look up with a torch you should see a silver relay with a GREEN connector check this could be the problem as well as the connector block under the rear seat.

Happy hunting Matt

I have a sti3 and had exactly the same problem, i put a new wire from the drivers kick panel to the fuel pump and also changed the wire under the rear seat on the drivers side. Its under a bit of black sticky tape, there should be a plug there and more likely than not the plug will be burnt out.
