Default heater stays cold, and over heating

i had a used block fitted recently a wrx 02 one and it was fitted with my 97 uk heads and there all new head gaskets

when i picked her up i was told it still has an air bubble in the system which i thought ok thats fine as i have cleared them before so i drove her back and the heater kept going from hot to cold all the way home and for 2 days after that i have done 150 miles since the new engine has been in and treated her with respect

my heater constantly blows cold air and it keeps over heating

i have done the air bubble clearing and there is no air in the system and had a new thermostat fitted on monday but when i drove home (only 3 miles away) it over heated by the time i got home. now in that brief time the heater went hot very briefly but went stone cold all of a sudden

i cant see water leaking any where from the engine so where the hell is it all going and when i check the oil dip stick its all fresh oil still. but on this occasion when the engine was turned off i could hear a hissing noise and it sounded like it was coming from the back of the engine but in the centre of it (if that makes sense), my big bottom radiator hose is always stone cold and has no pressure in it

is there anything else i can check that doesnt require major maintenence as im hopeless at mechanics

please help

ur bottom hose shud be cool as the hot water comes in the top of radiator goes through n comes out cold . the only thing i can say is the head gasket it can go sumtimes even if it isnt mixing with the oil other than that i cnt think ov owt.

Have you tried back flushing everything?

Does the car loose water at all?

Do you know what was the original cause of the gasget failure?

Sounds like its still there to me?
bottom hose cold is wrong so you have a circulation problem. Causes thermostat youve done, Water pump- could be the impellers are no good. Blocked radiator.

Its also worth checking the cap has a good seal and the "blow off point" is correct.

Also pressure check the whole system

The car is getting low on coolant. Either it's not being filled properly, or the gaskets are still having sealing problems and coolant is being ejected due to exhaust gas being blown into the coolant system.

It needs properly diagnosing and/or sorting out.

bottom line is, if it's still doing it, the garage responsible should put it right.
