Default are engine internals interchangable

what i mean is i have an ej20 closed deck block, an sti7 crank and some oversized cosworth pistons and i am now looking at getting some rods, but now i am worried if the pistons will be allright when the block gets bored and what do i match the rods too? can the engine internals be mixed and matched or is this a no no?

Pistons will be fine, as will any 2.0lt length rods, but you can't just fit the later "99 on" phase two crank, into the earlier phase one CDB.

However, the phase two block can be converted to take the later crank. Most of the specialist engine parts suppliers can offer this service.
