just undo drain plug on rad
then add 2-2.5 litres of neat anti freeze and then top up with water run up to temp and check heaters get hot
recheck level when engine is cold
when filling i had header tank cap and rad cap off and added the coolant until water came out of rad then put caps on and filled up bottle to level

Just one little thing to watch out for. These bleed easily, as long as you can see water passing into the header tank from the upper small bore pipe. There is a non-return valve in there, that can have issues. It's there to allow air to escape from the rad.

There isn't a non-return valve on the metal header tanks. The most reliable way to fill them is through the top water hose to the turbo. Remove end of hose from header tank and use a funnel of the correct size to fit into the hose. Dilute the antifreeze first if you're not using "ready to use" coolant, and fill via the funnel. When you see water in the header tank, put the hose back on the header tank and to top up, put lid on and in 99% of cases you are done. With new age cars with the cap on the rad, fill there until the rad and engine are full, and top up at the header tank. Almost always you can properly fill the coolant without having to run the engine.

It takes a long time to drain as the water from one side of the thermostat has to flow through a small bleed hole, it takes around 10-15min. Empty and fill till full, don't worry so much about the quantity, there may be some residual in the engine.
