Unhappy HELP! is it my maf sensor?

Bought a 99 UK classic back in october last year, but noticed over the months that it hesitated in every gear at 4k revs.

Checked ECU - clear.

Idled perfectly at 800.

Went for 6 months service recently, changed plugs, new air filter (the make escapes me now), oil change etc etc... always run on Vpower.

Since the service the car runs erratically, idles between 1500 and 0 - when it frequently stalls at traffic lights - and has started hesitating in every gear before 3k revs!

I have checked ECU, still clear.

I have read that unplugging the maf sensor should cause the engine to stall. However, when I unplug maf sensor engine runs smoother!

Can anyone help?
I'd really appreciate it

Sounds like MAF but could aslo be lambda.

On my old MY99 this didn't show up on the ECU check, changed it and it went ran smoothly
