Default Oil leak

My car is going for a remap very soon and I have a small oil leak I wanted to fix first. Its down the front on the engine between the rad and manifold. I replaced the knacked clip with a mega jubilee clip but sill no joy. The oil is burning on manifold and smokes quite bad after a bit of spirited driving.

Anyone got any ideas?

That will be a front crank oil seal leaking onto the exhaust, The pipe you mention is a coolant pipe, not oil. I had exactly the same tell tale signs on mine before i fixed it. I would not leave it too much longer to fix in case in oil has found its way onto the timing belt.

Is this a big job for a mechanic. I was going to give it to a mate that owns a garage rather than my local Subaru specalist as I am pushed for a time.

Thanks for the replys.

Once you have the timing belt off its an easy job. Just undo bolts from oil pump, remove pump then using a self tapping screw remove old seal. Use a socket of the right diameter and carefully insert the new seal. Replace pump and job done. The hardest part is removing and replacing timing belt.
