I know this depends on the engine involved, but on average with a proffesionally built engine with mappable ecu etc etc, what is the max rpm at which most scooby engine start to loose power?
I need to know as getting my gearbox built so need to know which gears to choose. Im getting a 400bhp engine built to use with nitrous for drag racing so need to get this sorted.

With the exclusion of cams, your turbo will be more of the defining point.

 

As already stated, no point in building an engine that can rev to 12K if your turbo runs out of puff by 8K. Turbo will be main deciding factor, and also what range are you wanting the power spread over?
