Question dump valve / recirculating valve??? Help!!!

afternoon all !
i have just recently purchased an 05 wrx, this is my first one (i am best part wetting myself with excitement) i pick it up in one week, just waiting for the service and all that malarki !

i have formerly been a ford man and after having a 2wd sierra cosworth i foung the best noise from a dump valve was the original that was on it (known as the recuirculating valve or summat ?!)
all i was told to do was open up one end of it and put a bung in the other pipe and i have to admit it sounded great really loud and throaty !

my dilema is this is the biggest amount of money i have spent on a new toy and i dont fancy knackering it before well...... actually i dont fancy knackering it at all.

does anybody know if this will work to a 2005 wrx?
will it hurt my car?
how do i do it ?
should i leave well alone and grow up?

cheers !!

I had a unknown dump valve on my RX7, was incredibly loud around 120+db's and sounded like someone had fired a gun

Each to their own, personally I won't be going for one but I don't see anything wrong with em, I heard the recirculating ones are the best as they match the originals but I am sure I have seen some hybrids that vent to air and recirculate so you can choose to vent 100% to air or only 50% while recirculating the remainder.

Enjoy

I would stab myself in the neck with a screwdriver before ever fitting one to a car of mine.

i get the feeling this is a long unresolved argument !

the initial reason for my question was that of .... does anybody know if the original ( manufactures ) dump vavle can be made / converted to dump ?

i have tried to search but as of yet no answer found!!

and the more i read i am begining to wonder if is worth it, just go out and play in it !!!
