They only work if you get the special snake oil.

I've got some spare (over-ordered; you only need a tiny bit as it turns out) which I can sell you for £10k.

I also have some magic beans, which I'm happy to trade in for a low mileage cow or similar good condition bovine.

Interestingly I tried this on my old Escort many years ago and couldn't notice any difference.

More tellingly where I work we have a Steam Reformer (large British oil company) and the MONTHLY furnace gas bill on this is was about £300,000. (10 years ago, god knows how much now). Magnet company man came along and said his magnets would save us fuel. HA HA we said, especially as we would need 6 magnets on each of 320 burners at a cost of £50,000. No prob he says you can have them on sale or return. So we fit them and the gas consumption went down 1.5% on proper accurate fiscal metering and they would pay for themselves in a year. So my company paid the £50k and there still fitted today.

Cheers, Diccy.

Was that quantified using degree day data? I put a ECOFLOW magnet thing on my Truimph Acclaim many years ago but it appeared not to make a jot of difference to the MPG.

I've had one on my Forester for the past 3000 miles and logged all my mileage whilst it was on. I did the same for 3000 miles before I put it one and I have tried to do the same type of driving during both 3000 miles.

my results are as follows.

With the magnet:
Fuel used: 561.23 litres averaging 24.3mpg

Without the magnet:
Fuel used: 570.62 litres averaging 23.9 mpg

Tried it as my dad swore by the one he had on his Volvo, so when he sold the Volvo I borrowed the magnet to see if it worked.

I would say that the difference is as little as makes no difference really, only good thing I can say is everyone will ask, whats that? when you open the bonnet.
