Power Fc Knocking Level

Power Fc Knocking Level
Hi All, Needing a bit of advice here.
I've a 98 STI wagon running a power Fc mapped by a well known and respected mapper and was just wondering what the average knock level that this car should display. The car has just had an engine rebuild due to big end failure, and I'm currently running it in below 3000 RPm for 1000 miles. I know it was displaying a high knock level prior to the big end going but at the moment the highest knock I've got is 13 on the power Fc and a flicker of a second green on the Knock link.
Any info greatly appriciated.
Cheers
John

According to the instruction manual a knock of 60 and the CEL will come on. Sometimes mine wont go above 10 on a run, sometimes it will peak in the mid 20's under fast/hard driving.

depends on the individual engine.. but generally the phase 1 (93~96) will have knock reading in the 30~40something range.. phase 1.5 (97~98) 15~25 and phase 2 (99~00) upto around 15.. there are exceptions but generally they are within those ballpark figures.
The mapper is able to set the CEL to flash at a level just above the knock seen whilst mapping which was not det.. ie. engine noise.. as said it is set to 60 in the standard map.. I usually set 5~10 higher than the knock level seen whilst mapping which was know to be engine noise confirmed by detcans. Therefore if it does det you will know.
I didn't map it but assuming this is how it was set up and the CEL was not flashing at you on the other engine then it is unlikely to have been a det related issue. Even standard engines unfortunatly let go..

Thanks for the replies lads, my mind is resting a bit easier now!! just was worried. Simon it has the CEL flash alright, seen it a bit before the engine let go. It was not down to det that the last engine went, just hit the 80,000 kms and according to a few it's the life of the bearings in an STi engine.
Once again thanks for confiming the knock level.
Cheers
