Firestorm back box fitting advise please.
Hiya folks,
I fitted the back box the other day and took it for it's MOT today, which at last it passed. However, the tester pointed out that it is rubbing on the nearside driveshaft. He reckons the centre bracket, which is mounted by two allen bolts should be longer to allow some clearance. When I got the box it had a choice of two of these brackets, one of which was totally wrong, presumably for a different model.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you fix it?
I'm thinking of cutting it and welding in a section to make it longer, but have I missed something more obvious?
Its a 94 wrx
Cheers

mine rubbed the drive shaft after some nuget over tightened the bolts that attach the centre section to the down pipe. This should have a slip joint and the bolts should have springs that allow some movement so when the engine is revved it will tilt and slip at the slip joint instead of tilting the whole of the exhaust up into the drive shaft.
the bolts have springs and washes and should be quite tight but the spring shouldnt be fully compressed.

Cheers Gaz,
I had a butchers earlier and managed to loosen off the rear box and twist it a bit, which has seemed to do the trick, but it's still close. I'll have a look at the slip joint in the morning.
Thanks again,
Bod
