Default 1997 Sti Ra Ecu Into MY98 Non Sti ? Will it Fit & Run ?

I am led to believe that the MY97 Ecu will interchange with the MY98 but the Sti also has an extra Temp Sensor which is not fitted to the Standard Impreza.
Will this affect the running in any way ??

Also did the Sti have the V series turbo, How would this compare in flow etc to an My98's TD04 & the relation between Cams & heads Etc.

Would the Ecu be a good starting point (Or Mid Point) to add a bit more Urge Etc.

Cheers

Dean

Basically, it's a bad idea and won't run very well....

the sti ecu runs a map which is too aggressive in terms of boost and ignition advance for the weaker wrx engine, so you run the risk of det'ing the engine to death. Your tdo4 is also very different to the vf series turbo, so the fuelling etc will be way off.

as briforbes says plus cams, valves, valve shims, springs, pistons, rods are all different.. STi has a different rev limit..

If the car is a UK you also have different maf and wiring on the MY97~98 to try and prevent this mistake.

maybe immobiliser issues too.....as UK 97/98 ECU's are not interchangable unless you get them reset to your key code. Not sure if the Jap ECU comes with an in-built immobilser.

all in all not a good idea....

Hi,

I would be very grateful if you could tell me the code of the standard ecu for my 1997 wrx import, as my ecu has got problems and i am without my scooby.

Thanks
Dan.
