Default Miles increasing but speedo not moving??

As title , after killing my own clocks got a replacement set , they have the km to miles convertor on the back which mines never had. The problem is the mileage increases however the speedo needle doesn't move , it moved to 20 when I was foing about 40 but that was it ?

So do I have a duff speedo or speedo cable playing up?

cheers

Kenny

If your odometer is clocking up the miles & the speedo needle is not moving then its a faulty speedo clock.

The speedo is moving just not as it , shoul , like static to 35ish but then reading 20 on the clock so there is some life.

ould it be due to having two km to mph convertors? Is the black module at the base of the speedo cable where it connects into the gearbox a km to mph convertor or just part of the cable?

Usually the convertor (black box thingy) is fitted inbetween the 2 speedo cables just by the gearbox.

You can unplug it & remove it if you want.

Considering your convertor is at the back of the speedo clock, then I would remove the one inbetween the 2 cables & see if that make a difference.

The convertor is the small black box.

Note this is a complete picture of my old speedo cable.
The longer cable (connects from the back of the speedo)
The convertor
& the short speedo cable which is fitted onto the gearbox

ps the cable does not easily damage, just dont bend the longer cable back & fourth.

Yip thats whats on the car already , the cable plugs into it and is held in with a type of grenade pin.

The one on the new cluster looks like the top one in this pic:

So just ditch one of these before writing off the speedo.
