The speedo stopped working today, not long after I refitted the clocks. If I have pull the cable out at the gearbox end would that cause fault 33?

if you havent connected the speedo cable into the back of the speedo dial it throws up that fault code so the sensor may be in the speedo cluster
The cable is quite short so difficult to put back in when refitting the speedo cluster... easiest way I found it fit the cluster then lie on your back in the footwell and use a torch to find the cable and where it fits and fit it from under there.

Problem sorted.
Speedo cable was indeed disconnected at both ends. To re-connect it at the gearbox side you need to look down between the downpipe and the intercooler, there you will see the speedo cable pointing vertically upward from the gearbox. You can reach it (just) with the exhaust cold. From the speedo end it can be reached if you lay on your back and feel your way around toward the back of the speedo cluster.
