How would you get 300+ bhp from a WRX??
I have a standard(ish) 2001 WRX (newage) fitted with PPP, so should be around 265 at the mo.
I am looking for a way of increasing the bhp and wondered if a remap would be the way to go or would I need to look at getting a bigger turbo and uprating a few bits engine wise.
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Dave

I know of a my00 impreza running 295 bhp for the last 2 years with a TD04 (standard turbo) Prodrive exhaust & panel filter. Not saying Zen don't know their stuff but best to get a few opinions before knowing what can and can't be done.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe a VF35 might suit your needs.

decat or sports cat exhaust, fuel pump, sti pink injectors (used) VF35 turbo (from newage uk sti) turbo (used), remap and optionally a good panel filter.
315hp easily with great spoolup and long term reliability.

I think with bhp figures you have to be very carefully that you don’t look for figures many companies show big figures on there rolling roads but thats not always a fair and equal playing field, lesson I learnt when shopping around was to talk to these companies and you will soon figure out the BS merchants from the knowledgeable ones,
and I ended up going with Zen, and I have never been on a rolling road so don’t know what BHP its pushing out but it drives so much better and uses less fuel with no reliability issues ( so far ) no need to check its speed I no its fast and so does the m3 I played with in MK today

Who gives a monkeys what the HP is it's the seat of tha pants that counts
My classic has a 2.2 L stroked engine (all forged) hybrid IHI turbo produces a bar of boost at 3k revs (max 1.2 bar) and I havent been overtaken since I have owned it, it does have a P1 box so 0-100mph is quick!
My mate owns "fearnsport" in Silverstone and he had it built, his words to me were that is a F******G quick car and he spends all day everyday playing with GT3 Rs Porsches and GT2 race cars !
His own car is a GT2 running 620 Hp and he still says the Scooby is rude !

i know you have newer car than me, but I thnk TD04 is almost the same spec on both and I heard a genuine 270bhp was all this is good for - it simply can not move the exhaust fast enough for more.
So I'm pretty sure you'll have to change your turbo for that, there are a few options depending how far you want to go and what characteristics of torque / power deliver you want.
Read my saga on TD04 hybrid
https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...bs-305bhp.html
But over 270bhp - you'll need to look at fuel system as well as turbo, of course exhaust is a must and remap

Good advice and best thing to do, Vf35 is great turbo. My TD04 made 286bhp on the rollers at Powerstation. 300bhp would be really pushing things.

Speak to someone like David at API - a proper expert and not out to rip you off.
Easy peasy and the best advice.
Sorry SN'ters but you know the facts - a little knowledge is dangerous - speak to someone who knows

Why ask a load of total strangers who for all you know might give you either bad advice cos they don't know better or bad advice to wind you up.

Daddyscoob - stop hijacking my thread
If you havent got an answer then dont post. Thank you
The reason I'm asking is I have an idea of what needs doing and by asking fellow snetters, i'm confirming what needs to be done. If someone has gone about it a different way or used different parts to achieve a similar result, then it could be worthwhile exploring that route.

I've got a MY02 UK bugeye wrx with PPP made 260bhp the other day on powerstations rollers. I am looking for between 300 and 320bhp with similar torque so I have bought.
Stainless Headers with Up-pipe with Wrap
3" turbo back system with open neck downpipe (full decat)
STi Pink Injectors
Uprated Fuel pump (well will have it before it's mapped)
VF35 from an 02 STi
Obviously it will be remapped when it's all bolted on.
But im not sure if I was to go for an STi tmic as well, would it make much difference ? what do you guys think ?
p.s Sorry for the slight thread hi jack

For the year/model you wont see much passed 270-280 on a standard TD04, you can push harder but then internals on the MY99/00 engines have been known to let go beyond 1.2-1.3bar (pistons break), newer TD04's are slightly different, they "may" push more power but you need a hybrid for that really and in all honesty your still loosing out top end where a bigger turbo will carry on.
What you dont want to be caught up in is the 300+bhp competition, there is 300bhp and then there is 300bhp, both are 300bhp but one is quicker than the other, simple reason is that you have 2 ways of getting there, the one that gives you the most torque will give you the better performance, and that wont be the TD04.
(its about the delivery )

All those bits wont do anything for you if your still resticted by the turbo....
