Hi,
I've had recent problems with my box on a '93 wrx (5th and reverse), thought it might just be the 'big nut' ....but no
on close inspection yesterday I could see that the baulk ring has worn (not the teeth but where the 3 little peg things sit).... so methinks this is what caused problems going into 5th and probs coming out of reverse (pegs can rise slightly)
but I also noticed that fith cog itself has very slight side/side movement along length of shaft.........is this normal?, as all other cogs in box seem tight in this respect. I cant see any signs of wear!
I do have a spare box for parts (typically missing fith syncro though) and were wondering if any of the other syncros/baulks in box will fit??? as some are same size (external)
if so how do I get cogs off the shaft......can't see obvious nut holding it all together? (failing that I may just take the angle grinder to it to get them off..........I know rough ar.se)
anyways all quality info greatly appreciated!!!
cheers guys
Mark.

Under their bonnets or pulling boxes out!
I leave gearboxes alone, but a call/email to David at Welcome to the API website might help you. They are doing heaps of gearboxes now and Rob there is the top man.
