I have a 1999 Legacy with the 2.2 L non-turbo 5 speed manual. The car has a wandering idle. Sometimes it idles at 700 rpm and is smooth. Other times it idles at 1800 rpm and will not settle down until it gets warm (sometimes) and or I start it and it then settles down to 800 to 900 rpm. The local subaru dealer technician has suggested a new thermostat and coolant sensor. I have replaced the idle control valve which helped at bit. Any suggestions?
