Default Car running slightly lumpy!

I posted on here a while back when I had some running problems of my 97 WRX JDM Scoob. I can now give you a better idea of what the situ is. The car was checked for fault codes and none had come up. The garage cleaned the MAF because thats a common fault and it ran a lot better so I guessed it must be on the way out. I saved up and just spent £230 on a new MAF just to keep my mind at rest and its a lot better than it was but this is the symptons. When the car is cold when you drive it off turbo at around 65 mph in fifth gear around 3K rpm the car will just hesitate its as if its gonna run out of petrol! It then pics up again but if you keep at the same steady speed it will happen again! It doesn't seem to happen when the car is warm! I am running the car on 99 V power so its not too far of jap spec fuel. Could this have something to do with the type of fuel? The car is decatted but apart from that is pretty standard as far as I am aware. I'm thinking of changing the car onto Apeix Power FC management but I'd rather know what the problem is than just try and get over it replacing bits! Thanks in advance Jamie

the problem if you put in a new ecu is that you will be covering up a problem.
Coilpacks and sparkplugs can be checked.

yeah I know thats why I'd like to sort it before spending any more money to find out it still does it! Its had new plugs (NGK ones gapped correctly) and Magnecor KV8.5 leads. How can I check to see if the coilpack is working correctly? Thanks Jamie
