Default ESL chip

hey guys,

after reading up on here about the ESL chips, im considering getting one.
Ive got a 93 WRX with a K&N panel filter, 3" full turbo back de-cat, Forge VTA D/V, its ran on V-power.

Is it as simple as it sounds? just fit it and away you go? does it need setting up on a Rolling road? Do you have to change anything else...ie:brass restrictor in vacuum hose?

Anyone have any contact details for ESL so I can phone them and have a chat about the chip?

thanks again

I've got an ESL chip. I think its very good. Easy peasy to fit. Just plug it in. And as Myblackwrx says more than one option of supplier now too. I think they all do pretty much the same thing. 1.1bar boost and around 280bhp.

I've just read your other thread. You'll need to diagnose and rectify that problem first.

To resolve confusion; the live mapping product is available through a distribution network. The static product is only available from the manufacturer (and probably not for much longer).

By static product, do you mean the one with the two EPROM chip's? Will support and or advice still be available?

Yes and yes. The production run is coming to an end and there are people copying old maps and selling them cheap so it may not make commercial sense to continue in that sector. Unfortunately when the cowboys run out of 27c1028s the real expertise will have gone from the market (This is not aimed at Scott btw who knows what he is doing). There will be a shift to live mapping but all previous customers of the static boards will continue to be supported.

PTS still have the facility to do that but the game is moving on IMHO. I can use a live mapping board to create a new image for your static board but if you are at that level anyway, a live board would be a better option for you (as it is very much quicker to use and time=money at the RR).

Existing customers have lost nothing though Dan, (in fact access to enhanced capabilities should be a big plus IMHO) and all products will have continued support for the foreseable future.

Default ESL Andy - Top bloke.

Hi all

I got my ecu back today pluged it in and away i went. ive a 93 wrx with fmic, powertek filter, TD05, 440cc,s hks superdrager and walbro pump. the difference is like nite and day, holds 1.1 bar boost all the way to the red line in every gear and is extremely responsive. im absolutely delighted with it.

Andy at ESL is a top bloke. once i listed my mods he made the map to suit, he has a 94 wrx himself so he knows what people are looking for, just fone him up and have a chat with him hel do all he can to help you out.

if your not comfortable with soldering yourself just send him your ecu and hel supply and fit the chip for £250 all in. Best mod money ive spent.

See how you get on mate, i know its not quite an apexi or motec ect. but it is very good value for money.

Just seen one of these chips/ecu on Ebay. I have a 93wrx with a 3" stainless de-cat exhaust. I also have a twin piston bailey dv and a induction kit. I was also toying with the idea of putting the later classic tmic on it that I have got. Would the tmic be any better? Also, what sort of gains would I see from the chip with the mods I have? And, what does the chip do exactly please? Last one Where abouts in Cambridgeshire are you?

Thank you

If looking on Ebay, don't skimp and go for a cheapy from an unknown source that doesn't know all the issues. There seem to be a few latley that are just copies of the owners own map/mapping.
Stick with ESL or Polar (Scott.T) and we will do everything we can to support you.
There are plenty on here that have enjoyed the benefits of either a ESL Mapped adaptor board or Scott.T/PolarPerformance ECU chip upgrade in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, France, Guadalope, Netehrlands, Germany, Poland...etc...etc....

an example being 'choco' who I sorted out last night after a couple of PM's......the problem being nothing to do with the chip, but with his boost plumbing....the end result being....
.
u r the man, i went to see my mate and got the hose off him with the restrictor. the car runs great now mate, noticed a lot of difference. VERY VERY happy.
i will recommend u in the future. thanks again scott
Wouldn't you have been better off getting the live map product?
It costs more but with those mods you would be close to 1.4bar boost.
