Default What's this bit called...

On my 02 WRX, I have a square sensor thing below the number plate, inside the bumper (quite far in). I'm horribly unmechanical so I'm just wondering what this is called, out of curiosity!

I've got a bugeye 02 WRX... as far as I know there's not much in that area Don't think it's the outside air temp sensor.

MI5 bugging device maybe ?? Are you a govenment minister ??

Hmm, well the reason I ask is because it's gone all rusty! Thinking of seeing if I can get it replaced or treated, but havn't a clue what it is. Not a tracker I don't think, was never told the car had one! I assumed it'd be some sort of temperature sensor maybe... It's square and probably nearly the same size as a pack of post-it notes. Odd!
