soldering in chip socket

Default soldering in chip socket

hi can anyone tell me about soldering in these sockets do i solder it to the oringinal solder dots or do i have to remove these to leave the holes drop the socket in and re solder from underneath i have tried several repair shops but no one seems to solder anymore thanks pete

Use a solder sucker and iron to remove solder from the holes. Insert socket, heat pad, allow a small amount of solder to run onto pad, repeat.

As Andy says, remove solder by heating until it starts to flow/melt then suck out with a solder sucker/desolder tool.
Do all 28 pins and make sure all are clear of solder.
Drop new socket in, then resolder from the rear.

OH! and don't forget to remove the J1 link resistor, otherwise the ECU won't run the chip you plug in.
