hello i have impreza wrx type ra and i was just wondering is there anyway that i can get it to pop like a rally car?

ive been told you need a 1 piece straight through exhaust from the back box to the down pipe anyone know?

i think with a straight exhaust you would get the occasional pop... if you wan to have have it poping all the time.. i think you need an anti lag system..

Use the search, there's plenty of info about anti lag on here and google. I'm not sure if its legal on uk roads

 

there is a jap ecu that can control the anti lag with a seperate switch. try searching for syms ecu

 

ALS might be too over the top for a road going car. It's quite harsh on the turbo and reduces turbo life. GEMS/MOTEC will let you run ALS but you'll be looking at £1,500+ for ecu + mapping.
If you really want pops and bangs, try good Decat st.st. downpipe, followed by a decat st.st. centre section and st.st. box. Followed by a decent Dump valve plus, say, an Apexi FC mapped with "over run". Speak to Andy F.

You could fit a VTA dump valve!! if you can live with the sound!

 

I have 3" system in stainless with de-cat down pipe ,a sport cat in place of the second cat (53 plate),4" back box ,tubular up pipe and headers.This POPS a lot. I also suspect flames at times but not able to follow myself,so this is unconfirmed . It does it alot less know I have fitted a induction kit, but with out a remap and standard air box it was nearly every other gear change , the exhaust was alot louder as well.

 

If you have it decatted then remapped, the mapper can make it pop regularly for you. Not quite sure how - its either overfuelling slightly or something else.
