Fit a Speedo converter. About £50.

It will convert your speedo to MPH and fool the ECU thus removing limiter.

Were your clock faces simply changed then?

Is 120ish (mph) to the very right? Or 180mph?

I will be doing this to mine soon (hopfully). I heard that a speedo converter works a treat Seems really strange how something so small and looks so meaningless but still costs about £50 There on Ebay

You'll need a speedo de-limiter, goes onto either the gearbox end or the clocks end of your speedo cable, generally £55...

and also a dial set for derestricted scoobies... check out the lockwood dial kit, they give you one REV clock face, 2 speedo ones (for restricted (120mph), and derestricted (180mph) ) fuel face, temp face... should be around £40 or less

eBay.co.uk: Subaru Impreza Turbo Lockwood white dial kit WRX dials (item 330112196279 end time 02-May-07 12:02:59 BST)

It's basically a gearbox, multiplies the output by 0.62, so when the input is 100 (what should be 100kph), the output is 62 (mph)

5 to 8 is the true ratio i believe, 50mph = 80kph

That explains the price then

The only thing is though, there are 2 sorts for the classic! One for digital and one for a cable fitting

You don't have to buy new dial kit (i didn't on my 93 wrx).
Think yours is cable driven as it's an early car.
