no turbo spool up ! ! !
any1 any ideas why my car wont spool up
its a uk turbo MY99
ive basically had the inlet off
sprayed it up red with frost
looks like new now
anyways back to the problem
all thats been chaged thus far is intercooler for an FMIC
and the fuel pressure regulator to an aftermarket fuel lab one from mr jolly monster
ok so the car runs sweet as a nut
i did however just put a 90 degree elbow pip in where the dump vale would sit.
so basically no dump valve, the boost pipe usually going there i blocked off.
all my boost pipes are right to what i remember
everythign is back as it should hence the car idles smooth as a button and runs fine only the turbo does not come in, ive driven the car to near on 7k revs with no spin up.
i can hear more air getting sucked in as i accelerate so i know everythign is working there.
this is how my boost lines are setup
one that used to goto the oem fpr ive used a longer piece and taken it to the aftermarket FPR.
the numbers in the pics show which and where the boost lines go
cany any of you experts spot anythign wrong as to why the turbo is not kicking up a fuss
thanks in adv
dave
thanks again
if any1 wished to contact me to explain where ive gone wrong feel free to do so

If the car is driving ok (of course not as brisk with no turbo) there has to be something between the headers and uppipe which is causing the problem. It is afterall the exhaust gas which spools the turbo up and not the air intake where your intercooler and filter etc are!
What reading is your boost gauge giving? Is there anything on it - if there is a little you will need to look for a leak. Does it not spool at all?
My betting is with the Headers/uppipe. If no fault is present there id whip off the 90 degree elbow and check that the shaft in the turbo can spin freely!

it blew a pipe apart from the silicone hosing
pushed it back on and steady drive back home
phew
best get some better clips on there
the ones that came with the kit either snap or just dont do their job right

Same problem as me last night! Going for a test drive after fitting my new turbo, CLUNK really loud then the engine dies. Limped home at 2000 revs and found out that I'd blown the FMIC outlet pipe off. Now fixed and after a bit of a self-learning period, it's running sweet as a nut again. What a scare that gave me though.
