Default Coolant System Pressurising!!

I've just recently accquired a MY94 WRX Wagon, I bought it very cheap knowing that there was a possible head gasket problem. The car runs o.k, but a little rough on idle, every time you fill up the header tank with water is comes straight out of the coolant filler by the n/s headlight. The check engine light is illuminated, and after testing for the faults, i came up with the following codes:

24 - Idle air control solonoid
44 - Wastegate Control Solonoid valve
45 - Pressure sensor - Pressure exchange solonoid valve

Looks like a head gasket, but i'm no expert. Any of you more competant experts out there that can come up with a definitive conclusion?

Any input would be appreciated.

Those are the read memory and test mode connectors, they are not supposed to be connected unless you are doing a fault code diagnostic or ecu reset.
You need to unplug them, then your check engine light will go off.

Should be two black and two green, they need to be unplugged.

disconect those connectors from under the dash, those are the diagnostic connectors, as for the pressure in the system u may have a airlock, u need to bleed all the air out then see if its still pressurising...

A coolant contamination test will tell you quickly and cheaply if it is head gasket causing it. It uses a fluid which changes colour if exhaust gas contamination is found in the coolant. Not a subaru specialist job so try and find a local garage with the testing kit.

In the mean time be careful it doesn't blow the heater matrix which is a full dashboard out replacement job - In fact it may be well worth disconnecting the heater matrix to prevent damage by simply looping the coolant pipes to bypass it.

A freind of mine has this kit to test the coolant for contamination. I'm pretty sure the head gaskets have gone, or on their way out because i can smell exhaust gas in the coolant filler bottle, and the liquid is a bit milky, cloudy. When starting the engine, there's a rumble i can hear going through the radiator, then the water starts to bubble and over flow out of the coolant overflow.

I'm not using the car, just wanted to know a definitive diagnosis, thanks for your help.
