Default What components do I need for 400-450

As the thread title really.

I have an STi RA version 2 with the engine out for a re-build. Which will consist of v9 crank, Arrow rods and Wossner pistons.

What additional components will I need? FMIC, FPR, Gearbox??, Spec of turbo, headers, fuel pump, clutch?..

Will the heads flow enough?

What sort of CR will I need to run etc?

It's going to be used for track days, Nurburgring etc.

I will also look at uprating the brakes and the suspension before you ask.

For instance under piston oil squirters (for piston cooling).

Does anyone know of these being installed or are they standard equipment

Cheers Darren. Top build thread.. When are you going to get a turbo sorted? What are you going to go for?

Finally made my mind up and have today sold the cold air kit, samco inlet and possibly my 3 inch down pipe. So I dont have a choice but to go for the rotated Garrett GT 3037 with 0.82 Exhaust housing.

I was in a similar position to you a while ago when I needed to rebuild my STI 3 RA. Went to Zen Performance in Northampton and ended up with 409bhp/367lbs on V-Power

https://www.scoobynet.com/dealer-thi...zards-zen.html

Full spec is below:

Full Specification

Engine

2.0 Block rebored and honed

Steel head gaskets
Re-faced heads
92.5mm Wiseco pistons
STI 9 Rods
ARP head bolts
ACL bearings
TDO5 18G turbo custom ported
FSE fuel pressure regulator
Walbro 255 LPH fuel Pump
550cc Injectors
Nology Hotwires
Blitz Induction Kit
Blitz Nur spec R cat back 3"
H&S 3" Open mouth decat downpipe
Samco Induction Pipe
STI 9 Top Mount modified to fit with waterspray
Blitz BOV Modified to fit TMIC
Tubular Headers
NGK PFR7B Spark Plugs
Breathers vented to custom fabricated Oil catch can
Apexi PFC Mapped to 1.7/8 bar
Apexi AVCR
Earthing wires

I think it would be best in your case to try and source some later heads, The 3-6 heads would be more appropriate for your target.
Price was very competitive as well. Give them a call, you won't be dissapointed..

Christ thats not too bad on an 18G!!

Bet the spool up time is lovely on that..

I keep looking at the Owen developments site at the Garrett direct fit turbos that they do.. Getting quite expensive.

Can anyone (mappers) help me with on details on CR (I realise this will depend on turbo selection). I'd like to keep lag down to a minimum (as everyone else!).

Some people have used near to N/A CR in conjunction with a large turbo. I reallise that the engine drawing air through the compressor side will have a laggy affect, however this will be counteracted by the size of it flowing air more freely

Also has anyone delved into the under crown piston cooling aspect. From the sounds of things it's not an issue. BUt at what sort of power levels will it? Just theoretical and wanting to learn about the engine

Lovely is one way of describing it....

Here's the printout:

Now its got an added dose of Methanol it's

Alot of guys are getting good results with the MD321H/T, the H is better fo spoolup on the 2.0, however the T is a definite 450bhp Turbo, and spool is not that much slower. I think they cost around £1300.... but a definite favourite for around the 450 mark....

Speak to Mark @ Lateral Performance in regards to the build and the turbo and he will give you no nonsense advice.

Torque tails off a little. Is that compensated by the power?

Also what clutch are you using and are you using the standard RA box?

You don't feel the torque tail off at all on the road, it just seems relentless...

Im still using the AP organic clutch, the bos has been rebuilt about 10k miles ago, and steel selector forks were used, as the previous one kept breaking at 350/300....
