Default Defi gauges

I just had some Defi's fitted the BF kind and I dont think summits right
When you look at the gauge as ye driving it sorta stutters then flys up as you accelerate. This is on a WRX 04 plate. Now usually I would have expected the reader for the boost to be fitted to the rubber pipe of the blow off valve on the front of the intercooler via a T-Piece on the right hand side as you stand and look at it from the front, but the T-Piece has been fitted on the left hand side just above the turbo
Is this wrong???????????

Do you mean it's connected to one of the lines directly off the turbo (i.e. the actuator or compressor outlet)? If so then yes, that's wrong. Assuming you have a standard boost/vacuum gauge then you want it hooked up to the inlet manifold. So get one of the vacuum pipes from there and tee into it - one does indeed go to the dump valve, one or two go off to the boost 'pack' for want of a better word, one will be going to the fuel pressure regulator etc.
