Default P1 advice

gonna be getting a P1 over the summer which is gonna be my first scooby so i'm gonna need some buying and modding advice. initially i'll have about £1000 to spend on engine mods, assuming its standard what's my first port of call ?

what's the dreaded fuel 'det' ?

been doing some searching on the forums and have found some useful info but links to good threads would be handy. cheers

best links so far have been

P1 Web Owners Club

If the car hasn't been done before, then I would suggest spending the £1000 on maybe an exhaust system, and then an ECUTEK re-map.

This will give you an increase in bhp (around 300) and also make sure the car is running happily on the fuel you choose to run the car on. (ie, Shell V-Power, Tesco 99, whatever is your local garage) etc...

The re-map is a sensible thing, as the standard fuel map on the P1's is known to be abit 'iffy' if running the car on normal 95ron unleaded. It's a good 'piece of mind' modification, and if you then add various tuning parts in the future, the map can be adjusted to suit by the mapper of choice, usually for a much reduced fee of around £130

Checkout people such as: BR Developments AndyForrestPerformance Scooby Clinic | The UK's Largest Independent Subaru Specialists | 01246 590 807 - Chesterfield S42 6QX www.powerstation.co.uk to name but a few.

the car is going to be purely a weekend car as i'm now living in london and commuting by train.

i've been to scooby clinic before when borich blew a piston on his wrx and they were awesome

i'll prob run it on super or v-spec, dont fancy using supermarket fuel.

that guide also mentions upgrading the standard brakes, how soon is it advised to do this ?

i like the idea of a blitz nur spec type R, any probs with these apart from the volume ?

I'm an ex P1 owner now, but I had done quite a bit to mine, but hardly any compared to come people on the site.

There are problems with the site at the moment and it appears to be down again, not sure when it will be back up.

standard brakes are poor. prodrive ones much better but expensive. got ap 6 pots on mine so much better.
engine wise. P1's suffer from poor map when new so a remap has to be on your list of things to do. sort your mods then remap. possibilities for mods are porting oe headers (cheap diy mod), decat (only with remap) turbo upgrade.
best bet is to go to shows, silverstone is next sunday and santa pod on the 24th june. plenty of scoobies at these two events.
