Ok, I may get slated a bit for this but we’ve all done it..
Nailing it in 1st, WOT get to about 6.5k change down to 2nd apply power and then there is this almighty pop/bang from the rear..
Car seems to carry on fine, am literally 2 minutes from home so pull up get out have a look underneath quickly and nothing seems to be amiss..
Take the car out about an hour later: starts fine, goes fine, all gears engaging and disengage without any problems/noises.. everything appears to be ‘fine’..
Could it have been something as simple as a backfire from over enthusiasm or something more sinister…
Car is a COMPLETELY standard (bar an STi backbox) 02 WRX, its only done 29k too..
There was a bit of blackness around the tailpipe so does this indicate it was probably a backfire?
