did you learn yourself?

how hard is it to map? (obviously with afr and det cans)

is it really as complicated as some make out.

cheers guys

ps haven't got the funds for a guy to come and tweek every time I do a small mod. If I could do it myself then I can always monitor and adjust as necessary.

Yep..and still learning, but was lucky enough to have had help from an oe mapper.

Not hard, but expensive(fuel) and needs to be done safely. I'd add EGT to your list if you're planning on tuning-up.

Yes, that's why you need an experienced mapper to setup the air, fuel, and spark maps. I'd have gone for one of the 'usual suspects' on scoobynet to have done my car, but as I say...got lucky.

If you can get your head around how the ecu and engine works, then there's no reason why you can't go for a bit of diy. Would be a plan to get the datalogit SW...takes months to arrive!

Cheers

thinking about it where do 'mappers' mount an egt sensor whilst mapping......they have nowhere to fit in manifold (unless they start swaping customers sensors about)......downpipe is too far away?

You can get away with mapping to AFR only, but prob best to keep it on the rich side at the top-end to help keep temps safe. This is where being an experienced mapper comes in since they'll know what's safe and what's not.

OE's will map to EGT as well, allowing them to lean-out to release a bit more performance.

Good place to fit an EGT gauge is in the up-pipe, - FlatFour do a stainless-steel one that comes with a boss already fitted.

Cheers
