Default Attention turbo experts!

My wastegate paddle is physically loose, causing the motor to reach maximum boost very late, and an annoying rattle.

What can I do to fix this problem?? The turbo is a standard TD05 16g.

Many thanks,

Robin.

If there is an adjustment, then adjust it.

Otherwise its a new actuator and arm, or a sneaky bent arm!!!

tighten the actuator arm , i have always tightened it abit too far then stretched it on , so your wastegate paddle is tightly closed . i had a problem with this on a turbo i had ages ago and weld had failed so paddle slipped gradually till it was loose.

Thanks for the replies

It is an early TD05 so unfortunately there is not an adjuster on the arm. I will try unclipping the arm later to see if there is any tension on the wastegate or not. Will update later.

I have removed the wastegate actuator, bent the rod, and refitted. The rattle has gone and he car boosts much better. Maximum boost is still quite late, and still comes in with a big boot in the back, but I think this is down to the boost control. I have just received a dawes device in the post (took 3 weeks from America), so I will be fitting that on Saturday to see if I can get max boost in by about 3-3500rpm. Fingers crossed!

Oh, and thanks again for your help, absolutely spot on
