I Have a 93 jap import impreza. The car engine problem light has come on, and the car will not rev over 4k. When its driving and hits 4k it just chokes, and the car just shakes. The turbo kicks still but it just wont rev. does anyone have any idea of what to do, or how do i find out the problem. Cheeers

 

check your cat hasn't died, if it's rattly, it's dead, and blocking the exhaust.

Read the fault codes..
do a search the procedure has been covered loads of times....
look for the connectors down by pedals

 

Yeah you need to do a diagnostic check on the ecu. Your car sounds like it has gone into limp home mode to minimise damage.

Check to see what codes you get from the ecu.

Do you have a working speedo?

ecu restricts rpm to 4500rpm and puts engine light on if you have no speedo input to it.
