Is it my gearbox?
I recently noticed that when bringing the clutch up in first, or downshifting into 2nd there is a slight clonk, sorry best word i can use to describe it. Seems like it could be the gearbox. Also if i accelerate in second then lift off, as the car lurches forward i get the same clonk. It isn't too loud but does seem like it could be the gearbox. Someone suggested that my driveshaft bearing may need to be tightened which could cause the noise but not so sure. Anyone have an idea?
I also have a slight leak from my rear dif, is this just a case of changing a gasket? I know lot has to be done, ie exhaust off, drop dif out etc to do but would be good to know if just a gasket needed and not a new dif. No noise from the dif or noticable problems, just a very slight leak at the bottom.
CHEERS!!

The car was up and in bits on sat as i had to replace the up pipe into the turbo. Didn't check them in detail but will do so on sat as a friend from Subaru is going to have a look/listen for me, may well be you are right. The noise just sounds very similar to that of my old Golf when the gearbox was going on that.

Was under the car last night and all the mounts etc look in good nick. The noise i described tends to kick in when feeding in the clutch so there would be no real movement on the mounts at that point. The clutch has done 5K, could it be something to do with the clutch?
