Spark plug sockets
Hi,
I am gonna attempt the awkward job of chaning the plugs as I dont wanna pay someone else to do it!!
I am a bit confused as to what socket I need.
On the below link are a selection of sockets:
3/8" Drive Spark Plug Sockets
I dont get the different mm sizes on there. I thort the 3/8 was the size.
Please can someone point me in the right direction.
Ta,
Dave

None of those mate, you need a 14mm wobbly spark plug socket and some small extensions 3/8 drive, remove MAF and air filter box to do drivers side and washer bottle for passenger, I thought working on scoobies was going to be a nightmare because cossie owners don't like them, so make up stories of scoobies being awkward, but being lucky to have both cars in the family this is not the case. Good luck hope this helps.

14mm plug socket is too big. You need a 10mm plug socket (don't know how they size these things as the sparkplug is actually 16mm across the flats - but it's the smallest size of plug socket you can get!), 1/2" or 3/8" drive depending on your rachet and short wobbly type extensions. 100mm extension bar is too long but 60mm is about perfect (I actually use 2x30mm extensions - gives ideal length and a bit more flexibility).
You'll also need a 12mm ring spanner or standard socket to undo the coil pack bolts before you can get into the plugs.
Also, as well as taking out the air filter box and moving the washer bottle, would also advise you to remove the battery & battery case too. There really is **** all room to get at the plugs and (as with much in life ) every little helps!
Cheers,
Stewart

Luckily I have no air box and have removed the washer bottle before and it wasnt a problem.
SKS: So what you are saying is that I need this one:
Spark Plug Socket Magnetic 3/8Sq Drive 10mm Plug Sealey AK654
This seems so complicated for just a plug socket!!! 2 people saying 14mm and one for 10mm!!!
PS: I already bought the 14mm and it is wrong, cant tell if its too big or small cos cant see in, and no I dont have a spare plug to test!! :-)

Yes mate, that's the boy. Should be able to get one down your local Halfrauds / car accesories shop easily for about a fiver.
Defo a 10mm. I have 2 (one 1/2" the other 3/8" drive) and they're both stamped 10mm and both fit Impreza plugs 'cause I used them yesterday to change mine!
Like I said, no idea what the "10mm" refers to but that's the size to get.
Cheers,
Stewart.
