took intercooler off and then took drive shafts of front and to back wheels then droped gear box, found that me old clutch was knackered which was good, the fly wheel was fine no cracks and very smooth, got a 230 mm exedy clutch from ebay put on with no problem, put realease berring on gear box then put metal pin back so clutch fork was in its place and then put the box back on and rest of car back together
can put it in gears with engine off but when i start engine and push down clutch pedal to put in gear but it wont go
thannks

if it will go into gear when not ruuning, But wont when running, then the clutch is not dis-engaging properly or at all.

I assume you didnt disconnect any of the hydraulic pipe work?

Is the slave cylinder moving when the clutch is depressed

no all i did was remove the slave cylinder ,i got uncle to press the pedal down and i looked down by the fork and could see the fork springs moving ,
do you have the fork with the rubber at the front?

If you have reassembled it all correctly ie the release bearing is clipped/pushed into the place, the fork fitted into the bearing etc.
Then I would re-bleed the system. If that does not work & its still difficult to engage any gears. Then make adjustment to the pedal so that biting point in higher up.

I had to adjust the pedal when going from 225mm to 230mm clutch.

either release bearing not in properly or faulty pressure plate ! i take it you put the clip back on the new release bearing and when you put box back in did you push the fork arm back hard so to push release bearing into the cover ?

Did you bleed the clutch system (slave cylinder)

Did you disconnect the gear lever when you removed the gearbox & was it all re-assembled correctly.

Explain in detail how you put the clutch bearing & fork on. Its obvious you have assembled & aligned the clutch as its all gone back together (engine & box)

i disconnected the gear lever from under the car ,there was 2 parts a round rubber donut and another arm, yeah it all went together well, my mate put the clutch bearing onto the box shaft then put the fork in and then the bar i have asked him did he do it right(he is a lorry mecanic)so i trusted him as we put the box back together i think the bearing found it own way in but we pushed like mad with bars on the fork ,as my uncle pressed the clutch down i could se the fingers of the clutch being pulled out so it must be in,its so anoying as i thought it all went good thanks for your help

If the input shaft is turning (being driven) then the gears will not engage, none of them.
With the engine off the input shaft is static and the gears will select easy.

Have you put the driven plate on back to front?
If so I think the plate's centre boss will be forced onto the pinion bearing housing and will never be free.

Strikes me it's take-it-out-time..

i have to say you are right ,thanks for all the help
at least ill now no how to take it apart
if when i remove the intercooler then undo the bung and remove the fork pin so that the clutch fork ccan be moved out ,would i be able to put it back into the bearing with the box still on

i never had my flywheel skimmed or lightened does it need to be done when you have a 230mm put in not a 255mm
