HELP ON TUNING WRX BUG EYE 2001
Owned car 4 a year now, and I want a little more power. The car came with apexi cotton air filter. Witch I have now changed 4 the standard air box, was this a good idea??
We hooked the boost gauge up and it was running just under a bar of boost.
The cars goes okay at a bar of boost, But should I put a bigger turbo on it, as it seems to be the smallest one,, Like I say I am new to the scooby scene and need a little help getting me started, Oh and it has the supersonic turbosmart d/v.
Any help well appreciated. Thanks.

I'd do something like this:
* Decat up-pipe (from 50 quid upwards used, probably about 120+ new).
* Downpipe from an STI PPP as it has a nice sports cat so will keep the car legal enough to pass the MOT emissions checks (about 150+ used probably). Could also go for a new downpipe with cat from say subaru impreza parts from scoobyworld, suppliers of high performance products for your Subaru but they're quite expensive.
* Decat centre section (from 50 quid used, 100+ new)
* Some kind of back box, e.g. the PPP one (used at about 100+)
* Remap (roughly 650 for an ecutek remap)
* Uprated fuel pump (new, 85ish quid).
I think the lot above should see you at about 290 bhp, which seems to be the limit for the stock turbo.

it wont do it but at the minute you have no idea what your car will be like ??? if you add these parts you can see if its what you want ?? if not it can then be remapped !! my 1st suggestion is the cheaper option

Agree with Henrik also.
Thats exactly what I have done with addition of whiteline rear ARB, droplinks, STi suspension and uprated brake pads. Remap gives 290-ish with these mods with a much nicer car to drive all round. Mapped to 1.3bar now and pulls fine from quite low down (2.3kish). Turbo and STi TMIC is the next step if i ever want to go further, but I worry about reliability with wrx internals.

It's not been Dyno'd. It was road mapped, so the 290 claim is just 'pub talk' and the guestimate of the mapper from the map and boost he's mapped in. He squeezed every last reliable bit of power out of it - Cant believe how many miles he did to get it spot on.

Cheers.
