Crank and Cam sensor Impedance

Non starting car, so got a replacement cam sensor and fitted but no difference.
Tested both my old cam sensor and new sensor, both 1.96KOhms impedance.
Took out crank sensor to check it's impedance - meter shows 10M (suspect it's infinite)!!!
Am I correct in thinking that this sensor has failed and that's why the reading is so high (think it should be 4kOhms tops).
Anyone with electrical expertise care to confirm?
