Default Bugeye error Code reading - do you need OBDII

Do you need to connect to the ODB connector to read error codes on an 02 STi.

I can connect using my laptop, but it's dead at the moment (awaiting new one arriving next week).

Is there any other way to read out codes i.e as per earlier models by connecting the grren and black connectors under dash.

ODB only... there are no black connectors iirc..

thought as much.....
local garage just called me to read out an error code but lappy is dead at mo', so no-can-do....
