Air-con "squeal" type noise and burning/rubber smell
Right folks, this has been happening for a few days now and i am in the paranoid worried stage!
Air con on say full auto, or 3rd speed. (03 WRX), accellerate quite high in first gear, say around 4-5000 revs, then change to 2nd, and i get a bad burning or rubber type smell come into the cabin through the vents, but i have also heard now a squealing noise on and off when the engine has been stood over night or a few hours.
Now if i turn the air-con off and still have the fans going, i get nothing. No noise and no smell.
So, is there a separate belt for the air-con that is maybe slipping?
As the squeal and smell makes me think this.
Of is this the air-con pump or motor or someat?
I aint too clever with car mechanics tbh.
Thanks.

firstly does the air con function ok?
if so i would suggest getting air con belt checked as it has been squeeling the belt is probably knackered now and will need changing
